Recipe for a Better Night’s Sleep
You will need:
Clean sheets: it doesn’t matter what color, pattern, material, or style of sheets you choose. If you want a good night’s sleep and you want to look forward to getting into your bed at night, make sure you have clean sheets. Wash your sheets at least every two weeks. If that seems too long, then you should wash them every week. Use scent booster beads in your wash to give your sheets an extra nice scent. Or you could use this amazing laundry detergent that will add a wonderful, long-lasting scent to your sheets.
Cozy comforter: Purchase the best comforter you can afford. You can shop around, until you find the perfect comforter that matches your decor or theme (hello pumpkin!). Your comforter should be warm and cozy for winter or light and cool for summer. This all season comforter is just the right thing if you want a comforter that’s lightweight and cozy all year long.
Space to breathe: Declutter your bedroom. Only what you really need should be on the top of your nightstand. Clear away all the clothes that are piled on chairs or on the floor (you should be able to see that gorgeous rug you bought when you moved it!). It’s okay to have some special things on top of your bureau, like a few photos and pieces of memorabilia that you absolutely love, but you should be able to see the top of the bureau. Space is something we need to feel well. Make some space for your wellbeing. Here’s a book to help you begin your declutter journey.
A good book: Read before you try to fall asleep. Are you someone who is exhausted and falling asleep on the couch, while watching TV, and then as soon as you lay your head on the pillow, you mind starts going into overdrive and you can’t sleep? I think that is most of us. While there are those who fall dead away as soon as their heads hit the pillow, I think most of us have a tendency to start remembering all of the things that worry us or all of the things we didn’t do that day, which deflates any hope of falling asleep. We need to make our brains sleepy, before we try to sleep. Reading will make your eyes tired and give your brain a chance to wind down, so you can sleep. I don’t recommend the latest thriller or political intrigue novel, but rather something that highlights the goodness of life. Perhaps a light romance or magical fantasy novel, but you could also opt for a spiritual book or your bible. Whatever you believe will bring you peace before you go to sleep. Here’s an example of something that will help you drift off with all the good thoughts.
Reading lamp: If your partner needs the lights out to fall asleep, you won’t be able to keep your bedside lamp on without getting into words with the person you love. That’s the last thing you want to do if you want to fall asleep. Pick up a small reading light that you can attach to your book, so you can do what you need to do to fall asleep. If you’re the one who’s being bothered by your partner’s bedside lamp, buy yourself a good Sleep Mask https://amzn.to/4grBbbS but if you want a good reading light, check this one out.
